White House Introduces Immigration Reform Bill
This is an exciting beginning and radical change in tone with respect to United States immigration policy. The bill would create a path to citizenship after 8 years, for 11 million people who are undocumented. You can read CNN’s reporting on the bill. And here’s the full text. If it passes, it will likely do so with amendments because it needs 10 Republican Senators to support it to pass. It would be the first immigration reform since 1986, the last time the government created an important amnesty program.
